Andover crashes today

Postby GRANT » Sun Aug 05, 2007 9:59 pm

Healing vibes go out to the novice rider in 11-14 (dont know his name) who was airlifted to hospital after a nasty spill on the 1st berm, also to Tony Slater who fell in the final.
Get back on the saddle soon both of you.
Grant.

i herd that his parents had got him a new bike and that he was racing on his old one.

i doubt it was the new 1 because his handle bars didnt have any bar ends on.

but hope you have a speedy recovery and get back racing soon.

Big shout to say get well soon to John Cable, horrible way to spend your first days racing, also another big shout to all the medical team on the ground and the air ambulance for dealing with John so well.
Sadly after a good days racing we seem to be concentrating on the bad stuff, and again get well soon to Tony Slater who took that heavy crash in his final.

well thats good news about John Cable if that true as there was all kinds of horror stories about his injury.

Yes agree the first aid did a top job dealing with it and I want to thank the riders and parents for being patient.

I have not been to race for a while with so many hard crashes.

Tony Slater looked to be in a lot of pain and I heard it might have been a suspected broken hip, let hope not. Hes a tough one though..regards to all the Slater family.

as for my injuries, got stung a lot and burnt and a tension headache

The good news is that Tony has not broken anything.

The bad news is he has nerve and ligament damage and is having to use crutches to get around. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance late yesterday, he had to wait a long time as the ambulances were all tied up with a multiple pile up on the M3.

He was discharged last night, oh and nearly forgot he has a bad concussion as well.

All the best to you mate and to john and hopefully you will both be back with a vengeance soon

Thank you Carl, at least you DID know what was happening... That is more accurate... (This is John Cable)
Yes, I may have made a nucance of myself on this web previously but most of them were me taking offence or misunderstanding...
Anyway, I am back home now and no i wasnt riding my new bike - thankfully - I was riding my old bike... I havent broken my femer - originally thought to me broken - wich is miraculous, but i did severely cut my thigh on what we think was my number plate... I am getting a new one with rubber edges :)
I am on crutches and hopefully will be off them within 2 - 4 weeks!
I hope to be at the track tommorow evening without my bike, just to watch, and Ijust want to say a big thankyou for everybody being patient whilst i was sorted out... I was told that i was lying on the track for 1 1/2 hours! Sorry!
Its typical because I had half my family down there! But i think it was best that i did...
I think when i go back to racing i shall definately buy some body armour and some shin/knee pads and forarm/elbow pads...
Can I just say - if anybodyt wants to get funny because I wsn wearing pads, you cant becase even if I was the pads wouldnt have covered the area that was cut...
My mum and dad would like to say a VERY BIG thank you to everybody who was there for me, air ambulance, medical people at the track, hostpitol, and everybody who generally helped...
So would I. Thanks guys :)
Im not going to say hopefully - im going to say I will, because will, see you at the races next year!
:) John Cable / Rehopsirch :)

(And Tony, I think it is, get better soon aswell! My dad said that they thought you had broken your pelvis! Nasty, get better soon!)

Great to know no bones broken, you must have strong bones, what's the secret, how many pint's of milk do you drink a day? Just a quick one for now have spoken to your dad. If you are feeling well enough look forward to seeing you at the track tomorrow. I will bring up some race DVD's for you. Heeling vibes Chris

Firstly Chris hope your ok I heard you had a bit of a falll yourself !!! I nearly did the same those roll backs make you think your late you go and then disaster !!

John glad to hear it has not put you off racing again and I glad to hear you are ok !! although must have been worrying at the time for you and your family - saying that you can look back on this moment and say that time I was in an air abulance!!! how many people can say that ! (I hope everyone from Coppull is now OK - no punn intended) your first by no means your last ! hopefully this will be one of many BMX memories just read the old skool it does stay with you and friends alike will share your victories and defeats - althoughh we try to forget those !!

Good to here you got your new bike what did you get and it was a wise move not to ride it most of us would have done it reagardless giveyourself time to get used to it by all acocounts if it is a new Ku or something it will be slicker and faster than the goose so take your time

oh and by the way BMX is a community and we all have a bit of a laugh on here no need for serious and dont take it personally !!

Rest up and get well soon will see you at the track !

Healing vibes to all that fell this weekend there seems like there was a few out there

Heard from Tony today & the concussion is going away & he is feeling much better.

Too early to say what damage has been done around the hip area but no broken bones.

Hope to see him back on a bike soon.

Sounds like I missed an action packed regional!

Sorry to hear about Tony Slater's crash. Real shame as he has been flying on 20" and Cruiser recently. Hope everyone else who crashed and got hurt gets better soon too.

Did 30-39 cruiser get a full gate? Who won?
