Thanks for this update, so many of us are checking this site several times each day to see if there is any good news. A quiet day of rest and a fever down a couple of degrees is good news.
Please let Stephen, Melissa and my Auntie Cynthia know that I'm thinking of them so often, and praying for their strength to get through each half hour.
Stephen, as I have said before, you are from good Geordie stock my man, and as Granma says, we Geordies are a tough bunch, you more than most. Stay focussed on each small step of progress as it's all part of the biggest step of your recovery. To coin a cliche which is VERY applicable in this case "IF ANYONE CAN DO THIS, YOU CAN!"
I'm so comforted to see how many people are rallying around you, worldwide. It's great to see how you have touched many lives with your friendly and back to basics personality.
Do you remember when we went on holidays in Menorca? You were too scared to go on the waterslides and you used to go off by yourself and jump on the bouncy castles while Martin and I worked to see who could go faster down the slides!!! Then one day I convinced you to come with me, that I would go slowly. You did, it was so cute, we inched our way down the slide the first time and built up to going a little faster from there! How far you are from that little scaredy cat!
Then I was remembering way back when after we returned from our holiday in Menorca and some big boys were riding bikes in front of Polden Crescent. You were just dying to get on one of their bikes and jump the curbs and the ramp the built. Your mom and dad were hesitant about letting you. Next thing we saw from the living room window, there you were on one of the bikes! It was this Matthew dude's 10 speed, it was SO big for you, he was 10, you only 5. And you did it! Even from then it was obvious from there that you had strong determination, and big talent.
I laugh looking back on these nice memories, Stephen, I hope it brings you a chuckle too.
Love and hugs big guy,
See you in a couple of weeks,
Melanie
