A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE

Postby STEPHEN'S MUM » Tue Jul 03, 2007 2:39 am

Words cannot explain how your emails of love and support for Stephen and our family have given us strength over the past few days. No-one can say that this has been or is an easy time but it is amazing how when you have to, you can dig deep and find something within you that keeps you going an extra hour.
We know that this isn't a 'quick fix' situation and who knows how long it will take but we are all taking one day at a time and the family are taking their strength from Stephen.
He has always been a 'one off' and has surprised many of you (and us)with his antics in the past. One thing that I can truly say is that he is a genuine kid with a big heart who would go that extra mile for anyone and now we want him to do that for himself.
Martin is leaving for England Wednesday and that will be a low spot not only for him but for me and so we all need to keep up his spirits to keep the fight going.
Once agian
Thank you, I know we can't reply to everyone personally but Stephen has heard all of your messages and we have printed them of for when he has the strength to read them his self.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart
Cynthia

Hi Cynth, give him a big kiss from me and Carl Alford, that should make him laugh as I reckon he always suspected Carl was gay (as we all did)!

For the record of course, Carl is totally ungay, just in touch with his feminine side!

Love you guys lots, be brave, he'll pull through this.

Hi Cynthia,

You are all in our thoughts and prayers, him upstairs couldn't have chosen a tougher family to throw this injury at but knowing you guys you'll steamroll it in your usual Murray style which we all know and love.

If there is anything that we can do to help please let us know.

Cynthia,

Hang in there girl..

cannot believe that we were having a good old gossip about Uk bmx the other week at Decoy and you looked yummy as usual, then the very next week this happens, geez life can be so cruel.

We are all rooting for you and Stephen over here and all I wanna do is get on a plane and come and give all you guys a big hug, but I guess you can wait for that, plus it would only make me a great big blubbering idiot and no doubt you too.

Tell Grotbags to ease up on the fags and to stop pacing.

All my love and kisses

Scott Dick & Family

p.s tell Muzza to come down to NASS this w/end and get wreaked like the rest of us, plus we can hassle up all the stars for signed stuff for the auction.Be good for him to be around people.

Hi Cynth, its been a long time.

It's not easy being a Mum but for you at this moment it must be the worst time possible.
I hope you are able to draw some strength from the thought that all the BMX community past and present have Stephen and his family in their thoughts.

Give that cheeky little geordie lad our love.

For Auntie Cynthia

Postby missmelanie » Tue Jul 03, 2007 12:47 pm

Auntie Cynthia, you all are in my heart and my thoughts during this. I can't even imagine how this must be for you. I look at Joseph a hundred times a day and think how it must feel for you seeing your son as you do now. It was tough for us seeing my dad go through his accident, and the subsequent surgeries and times in the operating waiting room just praying for a miracle, the up and downs, and the emotional rollercoaster as Martin called it. I can relate to that part and really feel for you all.
I know it is a challenge to get through each 5 minutes right now and it sounds like Stephen is giving you strength, as we know he is capable. Nothing gets that Geordie boy down, he comes from good stock!
I know it will be tough having Martin leave, as it is obvious he has been a rock for everyone there. If it helps, many are praying for you, for you to have the strength you need, and I see from all these postings that you have the world of BMX out there offering their emotional support too. It is amazing how many lives that Stephen touched.
Do you remember that little guy who was so hard to get focussed to get his clothes on for school???!!! I laugh now, remembering you saying over and over, 'okay Stephen, are you dressed yet?', because I have one just like him! And guess what, as all along I have said Joseph reminds me so much of Stephen, Joseph has now discovered a love for dirt jumps, and even though he has just turned 7, he is now tackling the biggest jumps. And he is constantly online looking at BMX videos, of Stephen, his hero. Emma, thankfully, is into hockey instead!
We all send our love to you, Auntie Cynthia; Emma-Jae, Joseph, Joe and myself; and want you to know that although we are not there with you physically, not 5 minutes goes by that we don't think of you all. We are right by your side in our hearts.
Stay strong, and celebrate the small steps, they all lead toward a bigger picture down the road when Stephen is so much better and this is in the past. I'll be coming to Baltimore in a few weeks so I'll give you a great big hug then, for now, sending it by email.
Give my little cuz a big hug too, and tell him I'll be there to see him in a few weeks time when he is more up to it.

Hi Cynthia

You are so right about Stephen - he's the nicest friend I know and he'd literally do anything for anyone. He has no pre-conceptions of people and takes everything at face value and with a smile on his face.

I remember once, it must have been back in 1998 and we both had nothing to do on a Tuesday. So I drove over to Bidford in The Nova Saloon and we went to play 10 pin bowling in Worcester. They did a £3 all day special !!! Anyway, I scored a massive 167 on the third go which to be fair was a miracle as I am completely useless. Steve refused to let me win and consequently we ended up staying there about 6 and a half hours until Steve beat my score (168). After which he finally let us leave......

I think what I am trying to say is that as well as being the soundest person I have ever met he is also the most focused, determined and has a desire not to be beaten and I am sure that he will fight this and overcome it.

He's an amazing lad....

Hi Auntie Cynthia. I am checking this site twice daily for updates. We are very concerned for Stephen, his wife and kids, and of course Martin, Uncle Jeffrey and yourself. As I stated in an email to Martin I sympathize with what you all are going through as I went through alot of it with my dad. It may sound like a cliche, but time does heal. One of the things the doctor's always said was that my dad was not only lucky to live through his accident, but was equally as lucky to have his family to help. I know that you all are alot like my family in that blood is the thickest thing in the world, and you always look after your own. Stephen is very lucky to have you all as his family.

My thoughts are with you all. I am hoping that Stephen's kids are well and his wife is coping as best that she can.

I still have vivid memories of riding with Martin and Stephen in England 22 years ago. Remember when you dropped Spencer and I at the track and told us to take it easy and whatever you do don't wipe out. Well the peolpe that lived close to the track were nice enough to let me use their garden hose to flush my wounds of sand, and I got to visit the hospital that I was born at. And one minor operation when I came back to Canada to get the rest of the sand out.

We love you all, I have Martin's email address and will continue to check for updates and think of you all.

Love,

Gavin, Lisa, and Paige

Stay Strong

Postby Lavs » Wed Jul 04, 2007 1:51 am

Hi Cynthia its TJ Lavin. My Mom just wanted you to know that she's here for you anytime you need anything at all. She'd love to come there or be there to help in anyway she can. She considers your family part of ours and told me to tell you not to hesitate to ask. No task is too small or great. Just have someone contact me and I'll get her there to help with anything. Together we all can help to get it done. I'll be there in a couple of weeks so please tell Stephen I love him and I'll be there soon and to stay strong he's a warrior. Thanks love TJ

Awww... Cinders, you are all so brave but also know that you know we all care very much. Ross couldn't wait to tell me that he had a good chat with you a couple or so weeks ago at Decoy. We have been sending our love and wishes to Stephen and all the family via Martin of course but just wanted to send a Mum's love to another Mum as we all hurt so much when our fledgings are wounded and this one is a big time hurt for you. Lots of love and take care, Shirley, Ross and Lindsey xxx

P.S. When you are up to it please send me an email address so we can keep in touch once again - you will find mine on my profile on here.
